The Parents As Teachers (PAT) parent education program utilizes Parent Educators to serve pregnant women and families of children ages 0-5 years. The Parent Educator’s goal is to empower family members to strengthen their skills and confidence in order to be more successful as parents; to connect families to needed services and resources; and to help families develop an expanded network of social support.
PAT also operates a Community Baby Closet, containing clothing, toys and equipment, and sponsors quarterly Community Baby Showers and co-sponsors monthly family fun nights. Parents As Teachers is an internationally recognized program which is heavily researched-based and family-centered. PAT has been shown to prevent child abuse and neglect as well increase parent child attachment as well as to significantly improve the literacy base of the home environment.![]()
Fathers are encouraged to participate whether as a co-parent or a single parent.
